Alabama 969 new coronavirus cases overnight.

The Alabama Department of Public Health’s Aug. 19 10 a.m. numbers show 106,784 coronavirus cases in the state, an increase of 969. The state listed 1,876 deaths, an increase of 9.

The state has administered 880,652 COVID-19 tests, 207,711 in the past 14 days. Of those recent tests, 13,795 were positive. ADPH data shows 1,280 people are hospitalized due to the virus.

Latest school-age counts

Last week, Alabama began releasing case data on the number of cases for ages 5-17. As Aug. 14, that number was 7,000 since March. That figure grew to 7,500 as of yesterday’s data, representing a little more than 7% of all of the state’s cases. The greatest number of Alabama cases – 42,800 are among ages 25-49.
