The first game week of the 2020 season has arrived for Tennessee, and the Vols have released their first depth chart of the season to mark the occasion. Tennessee plays at SEC East rival South Carolina on Saturday night (7:30 p.m., SEC Network) looking to extend its win streak to seven games dating back to last season. The first two-deep depth chart of the season for the Vols came out on Tuesday as part of the game-notes package produced by Tennessee’s sports information department for Saturday’s game.
How closely the depth chart resembles how the Vols actually line up in Columbia really will be determined only on Saturday after they kick off against the Gamecocks as preseason practices have been closed to the media.
Though Tennessee coach Jeremy Pruitt has said several freshmen will be needed to play this season, the depth chart lists only two — quarterback Harrison Bailey and long snapper Will Albright — and does not include Georgia transfer Cade Mays as the offensive lineman awaits clearance from the SEC regarding his eligibility for this season.
Tennessee ripped off 24 straight points and blanked South Carolina in the second half of a 41-21 win at Neyland Stadium last October to jumpstart a six-game win streak to end the season, but the Vols suffered three-point losses on their past two visits to Williams-Brice Stadium, which will have around 20,000 fans in attendance for the game.
Here is Tennessee’s depth chart for Saturday night’s game at South Carolina.
