Liverpool player ratings as Sadio Mane shines and Arsenal struggle with constant menace – Liverpool Echo

Alisson Becker 8

No chance with Lacazette’s mishit opener in his only first-half involvement of note. Two excellent saves from the same player second half, even if the first would have been offside.

Trent Alexander-Arnold 9

Two fine crosses first half created chances for Van Dijk and Mane and struck the bar with a deflected piledriver before assisting the second. A constant menace with his deliveries. Booked.

Joe Gomez 8

Defended confidently on his return after injury and composed when in possession. Great tackle in injury time encapsulated what by some distance was his best performance of the season.

Virgil van Dijk 8

Had goalbound header cleared by Luiz and stretched the Arsenal defence with a succession of diagonals, primarily towards Salah. Solid second half.

Andy Robertson 8

Delivery from corners caused the visitors issues throughout. Miscue for Arsenal’s opener the only blemish and atoned with a calmly-taken strike. Worked so hard down the left.

Fabinho 8

Some healthy interceptions set the tone for a busily impressive showing before the break, and continued to dominate. Very good.

Gini Wijnaldum 8

Maintained possession well first half and offered himself to team-mates while pressing strongly. More of the same after the break and helped Liverpool control proceedings.

Naby Keita 7

Spotted some gaps in midfield with a couple of strong runs and warmed to his task the longer the first half progressed. Stuck at it after the break and kept asking questions. Subbed.

Mohamed Salah 8

Not much change out of Tierney early on but had the beating of the Arsenal man to create the equaliser and good hold-up play for the second. Such work-rate from first minute to last.

Roberto Firmino 7

Didn’t always capitalise on some good positions when dropping deep but did well to spark the second. Shot deflected wide as Liverpool pressed for a third. Subbed.

Sadio Mane 8

One shot saved at close range by Leno before tapping in the equaliser from even nearer. Booked early on for a strong arm on Tierney, but drew a succession of fouls second half with excellent direct play. Subbed.

James Milner (for Keita 79)

Brought additional defensive solidity to the midfield.

Diogo Jota (for Mane 80)

Fired one effort wide, missed a sitter, had a chance taken off his toes by Salah and then scored the third in an otherwise quiet cameo.

Takumi Minamino (for Firmino 90+1)

Minutes.
